Why sons, because they produce the seeds;

Genesis 6:10 The Generations of the sons of Noah, The sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, Japheth, and to them were sons born after the flood.

The seeds of Japheth (Yepheth); Gomer, and Magog (Magowg), and Madai (Maday), and Javan (Yavan), and Tubal (Tuwbal), and Meshech (Meshek), and Tiras (Tiyrac).

The seeds of Gomer (Gomer); Ashkenaz ('Ashk@naz), and Riphath (Riyphath), and Togarmah (Towgarmah).

The seeds of Javan (Yavan); Elishah ('Eliyshah), and Tarshish (Tarshiysh), Kittim (Kittiy), and Dodanim (Dodaniym).

By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

The seeds of Ham, Cush (Kuwsh), Mizraim (Mitsrayim), Phut (Puwt), Canaan (Kanaan).

The seeds of Cush (Kuwsh); Seba (C@ba), and Havilah (Chaviylah), and Sabtah  (Cabta), and Raamah (Ra`mah), and Sabtecha (Cabt@ka) and  Nimrod (Nimrowd): Nimrowd began to be a mighty one in the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD Y@hovah: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod (Nimrowd) the mighty hunter before  the LORD Y@hovah.   And the beginning of his kingdom (mamlakah) was Babylon, and Erech ('Erek), and Accad (Akkad), and Calneh (Kalneh), in the land of Shinar (Shin`ar).

Out of that land went forth Asshur (Ashshuwr), and builded Nineveh (Niyn@veh), and the city Rehoboth (R@chobowth), and Calah (Kelach) and Resen (Recen) between Nineveh (Niyn@veh) and Calah (Kelach): the same is a great city.

The seeds of Mizraim (Mitsrayim), Mitsrayim begat Ludim (Luwdiy), and Anamim (Anamim), and Lehabim (L@habiym), and Naphtuhim (Naphtuchiym) and Pathrusim (Pathruciy), and Casluhim (Kacluchiym), out of whom came Philistim (P@lishtiy), and Caphtorim (Kaphtoriy)

15 The seeds of Canaan, Canaan begat Sidon (Tzidon) his firstborn, and Heth, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite, and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

And the border of the Canaanites (K@na`aniy) was from Sidon (Tsiydown), as you come to Gerar (G@rar),to Gaza (Azzah); as you go to Sodom (C@dom), and Gomorrah (Amorah), and Admah, and Zeboim (Ts@bo'iym), even to Lasha (Lesha)
.
These are the seeds of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

The seeds of Shem also, the father of all the children (seeds) of Eber, the brother of Japheth (Yepheth) the elder, even to him were children born

The seeds of Shem; Elam (Eylam), and Asshur (Ashshuwr), and Arphaxad (Arpakshad), and Lud (Luwd), and Aram (Aram).

The seeds of Aram; Uz (Uwts), and Hul (Chuwl), and Gether (Gether), and Mash (Mash).

The seeds of Arphaxad (Arpakshad), Shelah (Shelach); and Shelah begat Eber .

The seeds of  Eber, two sons: the name of one was Peleg ; for in his days was the earth divided  and his brother's name was Joktan (Yoqtan).

The seeds of  Joktan (Yoqtan), Almodad  (Almowdad), and Sheleph (shelaph), and Hazarmaveth (Chatsarmaveth), and Jerah (Yerach), and Hadoram (Hadowram), and Uzal (Uwzal), and Diklah (Diqlah),
and Obal (Owbal), and Abimael (Abiyma'el), and Sheba (Sh@ba), and Ophir ('Owphiyr), and Havilah (Chaviylah), and Jobab (Yowbab): all these were the seeds (sons) of Joktan (Yoqtan).

And their dwelling  was from Mesha, as you go to Sephar (C@phar) a mount of the east.
These are the seeds of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.

These are the families of the sons of Noah (Noach), after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.
