The Genesis Study

Genesis, the word genesis is translated "generation" or "origin" and comes from the scriptural verse found in Genesis 2:4, These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens.

It is the first book of the Bible which contains the record of the origin of the universe, human race, family life, nations, redemption, etc. It also contains Hebrew history from Adam to Abraham. Chapters 12-50 are concerned with God dealings with Abraham's ans his seed after him Isaac, Jacob, his seed after him Joseph. All fathers of the family, and the women whom God had chosen to carried on the seed of Adam from one generation to the next, fulfilling God's plan for Redemption of mankind.

If you are new to the Bible, and to the things of the Bible. If you are a new born christian and you want to learn more about God and his word, Then I personally recommend starting with the Genesis study.  If you are called into the ministry, or attending Bible college, then I recommend that you start your study with the Genesis study.  There are 66 books in the Bible, and 65 of those books follows after Genesis.  Genesis is our beginning and for some reason when we study the word of God, we usually start our study with  selective topics of the Bible, but never coming into the fuller revelation of the Bible and what the Bible is all about.

This is why I suggest you start with the study of Genesis and get the proper understanding of why we have this wonderful book called the Bible. Genesis the beginning of how it all happened and why it all happened.

These Study Helps are designed to assist the Bible reader in understanding important features of the rich and enduring content of the Holy Scriptures. The aim is to promote clarity about matters of fact so that the reader may enter the world of the Bible more confident in his ability to receive, understand, and appreciate the message of the Scriptures.

For this study I recommend using the King James Version Bible. The King James Version Bible was printed in 1611 in the King's English, and is the closest we have to the original Hebrew writing.

Words and their meaning are of importance for the Bible reader or student.
For this Study, you will also need a Concordance to translate words and their meaning.
