The Genesis Bible Study Chapter Two

The Planting of the Garden of Eden

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

Genesis 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

Genesis 2:6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Genesis 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

Genesis 2:11 The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

Genesis 2:12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.

Genesis 2:13 And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

Genesis 2:14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Genesis 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Genesis 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

Genesis 2:20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

Genesis 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

Genesis 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

Genesis 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Genesis 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Satan The Transformer

The Genesis Bible Study

Satan the Transformer

2Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

To better understand today's teaching, on the serpent let's take a look at Revelation 12:9, and it says,  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceive the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Revelation 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

In these two verses of scripture, they tells us that the great dragon, the old serpent called the Devil, and Satan is the same being.  But in different dispensations of times he goes by different titles, like in the New Testament he is called the Prince of the power of the air, same devil, different title. And in Genesis chapter three he is called the serpent in the garden of Eden.

Now, in Revelation 12:9, it tells us his motives of operations......... to DECEIVE  Revelation 20:3 says, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

And why was he cast into the bottomless pit, shut up, and a seal set upon him? so that he should not DECEIVE the nations no more. (until a thousand years)   So the serpent, who is the Devil, who is also Satan motive operations is to DECEIVE you.

2Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

What did the serpent do to Eve in the garden? he beguiled her, to be beguiled means to be what, lets translate the word beguiled.
Beguiled means to seduce wholly:--beguile, deceive. You have a dictionary, your homework for this week is to look up the word beguile, do a study on the word beguiled.

So the serpent in the garden of Eden seduced and deceived Eve.  So where did the image of the apple come from? what's that all about? and, Why an apple?  Come on church, let's talk about what really happened in the garden of Eden. Let's talk about what nobody else want to talk about.

The Serpent in the Garden of Eden

Genesis Chapter Three

Why is it when we see a picture of Eve in the garden of Eden, we see her with a serpent and an apple? Why, because whoever drew the picture drew it out of a childish mind and a child's mind is limited to the deeper truths of God's word.  It's like when the scripture says in  1Corinthians 13:11, When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. As a child grows, so should his understanding.

The picture of Eve in the garden with an apple and a snake is for babes. It is drawn that way on a child's level of understanding to help them understanding about what happened in the garden of Eden. But, as the child grows, so should their level of understanding.

Now, we are the children of God, when we are born again we enter in as babes in Christ and we are fed with the sincere milk of the word, (1Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:) Now, the word grow means to enlarge or increase; as we grow we enlarge or increase in our understanding of God and his word.

Our problem is that many pastors and teachers, are not growing in the word of God they are still on milk themselves, and the scripture says in Hebrews 5:1,3 For every one that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. The word unskillful here is translated, inexperienced, ignorant. This is why we are still looking with our understanding at a picture of Eve in the garden with an apple and a snake hanging out of a tree their  understanding of that picture ( or knowledge)  has not grown or increased in the word of God. They are still inexperienced or ignorant and they have not grown or increased in the word of God to start eating strong meat, (this is why they like their traditions or methods.)  The scripture says, Hebrews 5:14, But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

There are some of us in the body of Christ that should have matured into eating strong meat, but Sunday after Sunday they are given and giving milk because they are still babes in their understanding of the word of God.

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature (age) of the fullness of Christ:

Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (does that remind you of the Serpent?  it should)
Ephesians 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

So now, let's talk about who or what was really in the garden of Eden.
